In today’s business world, the pivotal role of leadership in organizational success is undeniable. Strategic leadership is considered a distinctive form of contemporary leadership that integrates most leadership concepts within a unified framework and enables organizations to be effectively guided in today’s dynamic and hyper-competitive business environment. The purpose of this study is to design a strategic leadership style model for knowledge-based companies. The present research is applied in terms of purpose, exploratory in nature, qualitative in approach, and interpretive in terms of research paradigm. The study participants consisted of 15 academic experts and senior managers of knowledge-based companies in Guilan Province. A purposive snowball sampling method was employed, and theoretical saturation was used to determine the sample size. Data were collected through field research using semi-structured expert interviews, and data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis. The results of the thematic analysis led to the identification of 115 key themes, 30 organizing themes, and four overarching dimensions: (a) strategic leadership at the individual level, (b) strategic leadership at the interpersonal level, (c) strategic leadership at the organizational level, and (d) strategic leadership at the supra-organizational level. Based on the findings, a strategic leader must possess high levels of capability and skill across four levels: individual, interpersonal, organizational, and supra-organizational. Accordingly, knowledge-based companies in Guilan Province should foster strategic leadership among their senior managers across these four levels in order to enhance overall strategic leadership performance.
