Managers always play an important and vital role in organizations. The influence of outstanding managers on organizational success is undeniable. The purpose of the current research is to design a competency model for strategic managers in the Republic of Iraq. In order to achieve this model, this research seeks to answer the question, what is the model of competencies of Iraqi strategic managers? This research is a developmental research in terms of its purpose, and it is a qualitative research based on its nature. The statistical population of this research includes two groups of scientific experts and managers working in strategic levels jobs. The sampling method of this research is purposive sampling and the sample size is 45 people. Data collection tools include in-depth interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis is based on a qualitative approach. The findings of this research have led to the presentation of the competency model of strategic managers of the Republic of Iraq that are in three dimensions: general competencies with 2 components and 24 indicators; Managerial competencies with 5 components and 47 indicators and scholastic competencies with 3 components and 39 indicators were approved by the experts.
