Abstract
Taiwan has long been a major source of tension and hostility in US-China relations. This country plays a significant role in drawing and shaping the power equations for America and China in East Asia. Increasing economic power and subsequently strengthening China's military capabilities in the region, Beijing has increased the speed of military maneuvers in the waters around Taiwan, which, while threatening Taipei, has increased Washington's presence and support for this island in East Asia. Thus, the main question of the research is, what position does Taiwan have in the competition between America and China in East Asia? The hypothesis of the article is that with China's rapid economic growth and the subsequent strengthening of its navy and the establishment of a chain of naval bases and stations in the waters of the South and East China Sea by Beijing, China's aggressive behavior and its military exercises and maneuvers in The surrounding of the island has increasingly threatened the coastal countries, including Taiwan, and influential international powers, especially the United States, which has increased Washington's presence and intervention in the region and support for Taiwan.
