Abstract
Problem identification and understanding the network of issues in the cultural domain are among the essential prerequisites for cultural policymakers in any political system. In other words, cultural problem identification serves as a precursor to resolving issues and preventing them from escalating into cultural crises. The main objective of this study is to identify a conceptual model of the cultural issue network of the “Eighties Generation” based on their cultural activities and consumption of cultural goods in four domains: social networks, reading and book study, cinema and theater, and music. This analysis was conducted using secondary data from official statistics published by the Statistical Center of the Plan and Budget Organization of the Presidency in 2020 (1399 SH). The researcher, based on cultural indicators reflecting value-based anomalies in society, sought to identify the network of cultural issues among the Iranian “Eighties Generation” by analyzing their consumption of cultural goods in the four mentioned domains. The study identified four fundamental cultural issues for this generation: (1) changes in Islamic lifestyle and the spread of Western lifestyle, (2) weakening of public culture and cultural backwardness, (3) lack of a clear future for cultural industries in cinema and theater, and (4) lack of a clear future for cultural industries in music. Ultimately, a conceptual model of these cultural issues was developed.
